The account for the new Cannondale SuperSix Evo Disc was opened early this season, with Justin Williams piloting the revolutionary bike to victory during the Roger Millikan Memorial Criterium in Brea, CA. We asked Justin to let us know what it was like racing in a criterium on the new bike and here’s what he had to say:
The first thing that stood out to me about the bike was increased balance and weight distribution. I noticed the difference immediately and after a few corners, I was railing the bike in a new way as it was completely stable through the apex of the turn. This was kind of a cool tool and gave me the confidence to take a few corners hotter then I normally would. Overall I’d say I didn't really notice a difference between the disc and non-disc Evo at top speed. The bike felt solid even when the pace was high. I think that says a lot.
Cannondale's idea behind disc is "Slow fast, Go fast," does this mean anything to you after riding the Evo Disc?
The thing that stands out to me about the "Slow fast, Go fast" mantra is the ability the disc brakes give you to wait until the last moment to modulate your momentum. It allows you to have more options for corner speeds.
