Cylance Pro Cycling completes first team camp in Irvine, CA

Seven days of riding, team building and sponsor appreciation were in full effect last week as Cylance Pro Cycling met in Irvine, CA for their first team camp of 2016.

Riders Shelley Olds, USA), Valentina Scandolara (ITA), Rossella Ratto (ITA), Doris Schweizer (SUI), Erica Zaveta(USA), Alison Tetrick (USA), Kathryn Bertine (SKN), Krista Doebel-Hickok (USA) and Sheyla Gutierrez (ESP) spent a week meeting staff and sponsors, while training and photography sessions kept everyone in full swing.

“The team dynamic was great,” says Kathryn Bertine, a veteran racer in the pro peloton. “It is rare that a team gels so quickly, if at all. I think there is a great respect for everyone from riders to staff to sponsors. We’re all thrilled to be part of Cylance Pro Cycling."

Mechanics Win Allen and Jose Moreno dutifully kept the new Cannondale Supersix Evos rolling smoothly, while soigneurs Phoebe Lewis and Paige DeVilbiss kept riders in check with food, transportation and the all-important massage therapy sessions. DS Manel Lacambra implemented the training sessions, while manager Michael Roecklein organized the publicity and sponsor meetings.

“The training camp was a good opportunity to get to know each other better and to meet personally with the sponsors,” said Manel Lacambra. “Everyone was very happy and had a lot of fun. The ambience in the team is great and we expect to have a successful year. “

Between the four-hour training rides throughout Orange County’s beautiful canyons and coastal routes, Cylance riders met with representatives from the team’s technical partners and title sponsor Cylance Inc.

One afternoon was specifically set aside for riders and staff to visit Cylance Inc. headquarters. They were treated to both company demonstrations and family outings under the Cylance banner, as President and CEO Stuart McClure got a chance to introduce the Cylance Pro Cycling team to his company staff.

“It’s exciting for us as a company to sponsor such an inspiring team of young athletes,” McClure said. “We share with Cylance Pro Cycling team a passion for excellence and healthy living and look forward to a fantastic season.”

After numerous photo shoots toward the end of the week, Cylance Pro Cycling was off and running, as half the roster then left camp for the next team event: The Ladies Tour of Qatar February 2nd-5th.
