Travelling from China to California, Cylance Pro Cycling is headed to the next UCI Women’s World Tour event, the Amgen Breakaway from Heart Disease Women’s Race empowered by SRAM. The Amgen Breakaway from Heart Disease Women’s Race empowered by SRAM is North America’s only UCI Women’s World Tour event and is the premier women’s race in the United States.
The Amgen Breakaway from Heart Disease Women’s Race empowered by SRAM includes four days of racing throughout Northern California and into Nevada. The first two stages are hosted by South Lake Tahoe, where the riders will race around the stunning Lake Tahoe to finish up a steep climb into Heavenly Ski Resort. The second stage offers more climbing at altitude as the race summits Kingsbury Grade, an 8 mile mountain pass into the Carson Range before finishing back up at Heavenly Ski Resort. The race travels to sea level to begin in a new host city, Elk Grove for a flat run into Sacramento for the third stage. The final stage the traditional technical and fast downtown circuit race around the California State Capitol.
After a successful Tour of Chongming Island, with one stage win, two second place finishes, and second overall general classification, Kirsten Wild (NED) will be leading the team in California. Wild won Stage 4 in 2016 and Cylance Pro Cycling is ready to support her for more stage victories. Wild will be joined by loyal lieutenants, Małgorzata Jasińska (POL) and Rossella Ratto (ITA) who both bring versatility and strength to the team. Ratto wore the Best Young Rider jersey last year, and has shown to love racing in California.
Dani King (UK) will be making her second debut at the Amgen Breakaway from Heart Disease Women’s Race empowered by SRAM and has been preparing in California after her heroic ride at the Tour de Yorkshire. Alison Tetrick (USA) will be returning from the Pan American Championships to be with the team in her sixth appearance at an Amgen Tour of California race. Krista Doebel-Hickok will finalize the roster with anticipation for the mountain top finishes.
“We are excited to keep racing after our success in China, and always love coming to California to be a part of such a big race” says Manel Lacambra, Director Sportif. “The riders have good form and we can look for opportunities each day with several different riders. We will take the team’s goal one day at a time and do our best for a win.”
Cylance Pro Cycling will be looking for opportunities at the Amgen Breakaway from Heart Disease Women’s Race empowered by SRAM and use the versatility and experience of the team to earn results. Watch the team #bringthegreen in California and follow along!
